01 / What Sula is
Hardcore agentic engineering for Lumi
Sula is a planned agentic engineering app and optional subscription for Lumi. It brings the first-party Pi coding payload together: agent profiles, skills, extensions, presets, scripts and configuration.
The release contract delivers that payload as an auto-syncing, Ed25519-signed package. Lumi is the supported target today; support for other Linux distributions is planned after the core work, not available now.
02 / The payload
The crew. The working set.
One versioned manifest records what belongs in the release. Each asset has a SHA-256 pin and an explicit free-in-Lumi or ships-with-Sula classification.

03 / Desktop-native agents
A project opens. The crew has a place.
The documented desktop model auto-spawns the marked agents when you open a project, with Nova alone as the default. You spawn further crew panes yourself.
Agent direct messages are origin-gated. This is the desktop model documented for Sula, not a claim that the public product has shipped.
04 / The boundary
Optional means a separate layer.
The release manifest separates free-in-Lumi assets from the ships-with-Sula payload. That packaging split is distinct from the entitlement that opens Sula’s update channel.

- Assets marked free-in-Lumi remain on the Lumi side of the manifest. Sula is an optional first-party coding payload, not a prerequisite for Lumi.
- Ships with Sula
- The first-party material is proprietary and subscription-gated. The service layers entitlement checks and signed updates over the payload; third-party components keep their own licenses.
- Installed files stay usable
- The documented setup can install a signed release without an entitlement. The update gate stays closed until activation. Revocation stops future gated updates; it does not disable or remove the installed payload.
05 / The name
From snow to thaw.
Lumi is Finnish for snow. Sula is Estonian and Finnish for thaw. So snow becomes flow — the moment your stack melts into place.
That is the story behind the name, whether or not you run Lumi underneath. Sula remains a codename pending trademark clearance.
06 / Status
Planned. Not shipping yet.
The repository contains a signed-release pipeline and a locally proven entitlement/update service. That is engineering progress, not a public release. The Forgejo release channel is not enabled.
The billing route awaits owner ratification. Terms and release decisions will be reported on the build log; there is no availability promise here.
Public deployment remains owner-gated until the Sula trademark screen and formal clearance are complete.
